With the state in desperate need of funds, it appears Georgia will receive nearly $6 billion in aid from Washington, D.C. as a result of the economic stimulus package that President Barack Obama is likely to sign.
The total of the bill is some $787 billion that will be spread out nationwide.
Georgia's aid is expected to cover funds for transportation, health care and other programs.
According to state legislators, the money is needed to put a dent in the $2.2 billion deficit Georgia is facing.
