Duo Convicted in Murder of Washington High Student-Athlete

The verdict was guilty Friday for two men who took part in a robbery nearly two years ago that claimed the life of a Washington High School student-athlete.

Jurors found Edward Wallace, 25, and Maurice Aikens, 24, guilty in the robbery and murder of Kyle Moore, 17, who was a junior at Washington. Both Wallace and Aikens face life in prison for the May 3, 2007 killing.

According to prosecutors, Moore was killed in a robbery to obtain his empty wallet and a cell phone.

Prosecutors also said that Aiken's girlfriend, LaDasha Eison, served as a lookout during the robbery. According to Eison, 19, the trio planned the robbery and selected a bus stop near the Lakewood/Fort McPherson MARTA station because it was a "good place" to discover victims.

Eison, who turned against Wallace and Aikens as a key state witness, faces trial on murder charges, but spoke to jurors under immunity in hopes of helping her case down the road.

Wallace and Aikens will be sentenced at a later date.
