Sellers Take Note: Gwinnett County is Buying

Gwinnett County’s Purchasing Division will hold its third annual Supplier Symposium on Thursday, April 16, to help acquaint potential suppliers with the County’s procurement procedures.

“Gwinnett County is a large and consistent buyer, and the business community is taking note of the opportunities," said Purchasing Director Scott Callan. “We are a stable consumer for businesses and we want to buy their provider goods and services.”

Beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville, the morning session will focus on how to do business with the County. In the afternoon, participants will break into smaller groups focusing on construction and capital projects, small business opportunities and the North Georgia Fuel Cooperative.

“Our commitment to the taxpayers of Gwinnett is to spend their money wisely, so we are constantly working to increase the number of suppliers vying for our business,” Callan said.

The symposium will introduce potential suppliers and vendors to buyers and contracting officers and explain the local government’s bidding procedures and requirements. Various metro Atlanta county, city and school agencies will also be in attendance.

“It’s important to us to encourage more businesses to bid on our contracts,” said Board of Commissioners Chairman Charles Bannister, “and this symposium helps show them how.”

Current projects open for bidding along with explanations of bidding procedures are available online at www.gwinnettcounty.com under the Purchasing link.

Interested parties can also find symposium registration information on the county’s home page.
