Clark Atlanta Students Take Issue With Layoffs

In light of layoffs of faculty at the school, Clark Atlanta University students were circulating petitions Monday in an effort to support members of the faculty.

Just this past Friday, Clark Atlanta president Carlton Brown informed the public that an “enrollment emergency” driven by current economic conditions required 100 faculty and staff members to be laid off. Today's classes were canceled as the administration prepared to release a revised class schedule.

According to school officials, the layoffs were necessary in order to handle a dropping enrollment and the current economic crisis.
