Teacher Allegedly Tried to Buy Painkiller From Student

Authorities in Floyd County reported the arrest of a Coosa High School physical education teacher for allegedly attempting to purchase a painkiller from a student.

According to authorities, Scott Swantic, who also coaches football at the school, was arrested and placed on leave from the school.

Swantic, who was released on $10,000 bail, allegedly tried to buy Hydrocodone from a student. Swantic is not allowed on campus pending the outcome of the investigation.

Police did not say if the student was charged.
