In Griffin, where Caterpillar produces generators and other equipment, the company is letting go 200 workers, 189 of whom are production workers who could be recalled. And in Jefferson, Caterpillar plans to close its fuel-systems manufacturing facility by June 30, permanently removing 89 positions.
The Illinois-based company reported that it will eliminate some 2,450 jobs in three states.
Those cuts go along with approximately 20,000 jobs that the company said it would trim back in January.
