Commissioners also recognized the Friends board of directors with a resolution of recognition commemorating the non-profit’s 10th anniversary. The volunteer-governed, 501(c)(3) organization was established in March 1999 with the purpose to privately support Gwinnett County Senior Services programs and services through fundraising efforts and volunteer involvement.
“We are excited about receiving these two new trucks for our program. Now it will be possible for our seniors to receive chilled, frozen or heated meals seven days a week if needed,” said Meals on Wheels Coordinator Marilyn Sessions.
Gwinnett County Senior Services delivers nearly 115,000 meals to approximately 400 seniors in their homes and 125 seniors in county-run senior centers. The 125 routes are divided among staff drivers and volunteers.
