According to a proposed bill being looked at by Georgia lawmakers, new drivers would have to take a written license test in English.
Some people concerned with the proposed legislation say it may frighten away some people who do not know enough English from being able to work in the state. If the bill passed, those new drivers taking the written test and not familiar with English would be prohibited from using any kind of assistance.
Different versions of the bill have received approval in both chambers of the Legislature, and lawmakers hope to come together on differences prior to the end of the session on Friday.
