Gwinnett County Allows Soaker Hoses, Drip Irrigation

Gwinnett County is following the Georgia Environmental Protection Division’s lead in allowing soaker hoses and drip irrigation to be used to water shrubs, trees and flower beds within certain parameters.

Soaker hoses and drip irrigation may be used for one hour per day up to three days a week during the hours of midnight and 10 a.m. on the even-odd schedule already in place for hoses.

“Permission to use soaker hoses and drip irrigation is in keeping with recent changes made by the state EPD and begins immediately,” said Department of Water Resources Deputy Director Ron Peters. “It is our hope that use of these devices will simply make it more convenient to water existing landscapes rather than encourage excessive outdoor water use.”
