Charges have been filed against a Glynn County veterinarian who was arrested last week.
According to authorities, Dr. Richard Stobaeus has been charged with illegally disposing of dead animals. The charge are the result of a criminal investigation that started last month when officers responded to a tip that Stobaeus, who maintains his innocence, was dumping a dead horse in the woods on private property in Glynn County.
Police say they found a second dead horse in the same area. Investigators believe that horse had been dead for one to two weeks.
Under Georgia law, any deceased animal is required to be buried three feet under the ground within 24 hours of death to prevent contamination.
