Police: Powder Springs Woman Supplied Teens with Rum

According to an arrest warrant, a Cobb County woman reportedly supplied minors with alcohol, including Garrett Reed, who died a week ago Friday in a two-car auto accident.

Authorities say that Kecia Evangela Whitfield, 43, of Powder Springs, allegedly bought 1.75 liters of Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum and provided it to four teenagers at her home.

Reed, a 16-year-old student at Harrison High School, was killed in an early morning accident on Jan. 24. The driver of the other car, Richard Reyes, 25, of Dallas, Ga., was seriously injured when the two vehicles collided on Sylvia Road.

Whitfield is being held on a $10,000 bond.
