Deputies: 2-Year-Old's Death Suspicious

Law enforcement officials in Cumming say the death Friday of a 2-year-old boy in the 3500 block of Catalina Drive is suspicious.

According to authorities, a 911 call was placed just after 7 a.m. from the residence. When deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered the child dead in a bed.

During questioning of those in the house, the boyfriend of the victim’s mother was arrested and charged with possessing a firearm. The boyfriend is reportedly a convicted felon and was in violation of the Georgia Sex Offender Registry.

According to authorities, Christopher Brian Gilreath, 39, did not register as a sex offender as required by state law after moving to Georgia from Pennsylvania back in December. Gilreath is reportedly a registered sex offender in Pennsylvania.
