ASA Grounds 40 Percent of Airline Fleet

Atlanta-based Atlantic Southeast Airlines, a Delta Air Lines connection partner, announced that it has grounded 40 percent of its fleet for engine safety inspections.

ASA, a subsidiary of Utah-based Skywest Inc., said it grounded 60 jets following an internal audit that raised issues regarding engine inspections meeting manufacturer’s guidelines. The matter was self-reported to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the carrier voluntarily put its planes on the shelf.

The airline reported that the impacted planes were 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft.
