Passing the offering plate has taken on new meaning at one local church.A Cherokee County woman was behind bars after being arrested for allegedly stealing $60,000 from her local church.
According to authorities, Susan Brooms, 40, worked as a bookkeeper at Sixes Presbyterian Church. Police believe Brooms, 40, moved $60,000 in church funds over a four year period to pay her personal expenses.
During a search of Susan Brooms' home, police reportedly discovered cocaine allegedly belonging to her husband, James Brooms. Brooms was charged with possession of cocaine and possession of marijuana and released on $12,055 bond.
Meantime, Susan Brooms, who was being held without bond, was charged with felony theft by taking and two counts of forgery.
Doesn't surprise me in the least.
ReplyDeleteThe devil's best weaponry is with-
in the quote/unquote church itself!
There are many, many cases where
folks learn a little Christian
lingo, are able to site a few
scriptures; &, (play the role) of
the super holy, in order to gain a
position of advantage to, at the
very least, (use) other members of
the congregation to gain food,$$$,
transportation, clothing, etc. It
is alledged that this woman did it
to take care of (finances) surrounding her husbands illegal
drug racket. I have to admit that
she was somewhat slick, in that she
limited her bilking to $15,000 per
year. I could say more; but, I
won't. Thanks, Philip
